Services of the house

The atelier,
down the hall.

A jewellery house, the older way — with a craftsman within walking distance, a goldsmith on call, and a gemologist who’ll weigh your stone in front of you. Four services we keep open every day.

Four promises — in detail

The promises
that travel with the box.

01 / Visit

Private appointment

Two hours, one client, one room. Coffee, the full house catalogue, and a master craftsman on call. Mornings, evenings, Sundays — on request.

02 / Forever

Lifetime exchange

Bring back any piece, any year. We weigh, value at the day’s rate, and credit the full amount against a new commission. No deduction for wear.

03 / By hand

Custom by hand

Bring a sketch, a stone, a grandmother’s necklace. Our atelier will draw three options in 72 hours and finish the commission in four to six weeks.

04 / At source

Ethical at source

BIS-hallmarked gold, IGI- and GIA-certified stones, and a written commitment to responsibly sourced diamonds. The certificate travels with the box.

The custom commission

From idea to box, in six steps.

  1. Step 01
    The conversation.
A two-hour appointment at any of our six boutiques.
You arrive at the room. We pour the tea. The tray is brought, the catalogue is opened, and the stones are unrolled. We listen first. The brief is written down at the end, not the beginning.
  2. Step 02
    The drawing.
Three options, drawn within seventy-two hours.
Our atelier illustrator returns three options for the piece — each in detail, each priced to the rupee. The conversation continues by WhatsApp or email; the second appointment is set when you are ready.
  3. Step 03
    The wax.
A model in wax, for the hand.
Before any gold is cast, the piece is rendered in wax for you to hold. Weight, drape, and proportion are checked on the hand or the neck. Adjustments take 48 hours.
  4. Step 04
    The casting.
The gold, by the gram, in front of you.
We invite you back for the weighing — raw gold, certified BIS, cast at our atelier within walking distance of the Mavoor Road room. Every gram is logged on the commission card.
  5. Step 05
    The setting.
The stones are set by hand, by name.
Diamonds with their certificates. Coloured stones with their lab notes. The master setter signs the commission card when the last prong closes.
  6. Step 06
    The box.
Four to six weeks, end to end.
The piece comes home in a Meralda box, with the BIS certificate, the IGI/GIA stones certificates, the commission card, and the house promise. The first servicing is set for one year from this date.
Hallmarks

BIS hallmarked · every gram · on the inside of the band.

Indian gold law requires it. We do it where you can read it — on the inside of the bangle, the back of the pendant, the lower edge of the setting. The hallmark says it is gold; the location says we believe in it.

Resize

The first resize is on the house. So is the second.

A ring shifts. A bangle stretches with weight. A pendant’s chain stretches with wear. Bring it back, free of charge, the first two times. After that, a nominal labour fee — never the gold.

Annual care

A polish, a clean, a re-rhodium — on the calendar.

Every Meralda piece is invited back on its anniversary. We polish the gold, clean the stones, and re-rhodium the white-gold pieces. Done in the room, with the tray on the chair.

The vault

Storage · insurance · valuation, on request.

For clients who prefer their heirloom pieces stored between weddings, the house keeps a vault. Annual insurance valuations from the master gemologist, on demand.
